SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) finished at +4 (76) to help the Nichols College golf team to a third-place finish at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Qualifier Thursday at Veterans Memorial Golf Course.

The Bison combined to shoot a 314 and will advance to the CCC Championship on April 27-28, 2013 at a site to be determined. Western New England (301) and Endicott (309) finished 1-2.

Freshman Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished six over par (78), which placed him in a tie for 10th. Junior Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) placed 13th after shooting a 79 (+7), followed by senior Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) in 19th place with an 81 (+9) and freshman Bobby Lucy (Fitchburg, Mass.) was 26th with an 86 (+14).

Ed Hedberg, John Ray, and Steven Langlois each finished at +3 (75) to tie for the top spot.

Nichols returns to action on September 26 when it competes at the Blazer Invitational at 10 a.m.
