MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Freshman
Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) placed 19th overall to lead the Nichols College golf team to an eight-place finish at the 29th Duke Nelson Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course. The Bison finished with a team score of 633.
Whitney finished with a two-day score of 155 (77-79), which put him at +13 for the two-day event. Sophomore
Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) was second on the Bison with a 157 (80-77), which placed him in a tie for 22nd overall (+15).
Senior
Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) was next at 158 (80-78) to tie for 29th place (+16), followed by senior
Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) at 163 (81-80) and
Bobby Lucy (Fitchburg, Mass.) at 170 (87-83).
RPI won the event with a team score of 607. Skidmore placed second (613) while host Middlebury took third (618).
The Bison compete at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Qualifying Tournament this Thursday at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Springfield.
