Anna Dyakiv Named CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District

Sophomore moves on to national ballot for Academic All-America

DUDLEY, Mass. (May 21) – Nichols College sophomore Anna Dyakiv was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as a Capital One Academic All-District ® team member, it was announced recently. The two-time Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year was named to the organization's At-Large team for her efforts on the tennis court, in the community and in the classroom. Dyakiv now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
 
This past season Dyakiv went 6-0 at the first singles and doubles flights to help the Bison to go undefeated in conference play and claim the top seed in the CCC Women's Tennis Championship tournament. Overall the sophomore was 12-2 in solo competition and 12-3 in pairs play. Dyakiv was perfect 2-0 at both singles and doubles in the CCC postseason tournament as the Bison competed in the championship match for the second consecutive campaign.
 
Dyakiv teamed up with rookie Lindsay Benoit to claim Nichols' first-ever doubles win at the ultracompetitive USTA/ITA New England Regional tournament this past September.
 
Over the past two seasons, Dyakiv is 33-4 in singles action and 32-5 in doubles play and boasts a 17-0 record in both singles and doubles against conference opponents. In addition to CCC Player of the Year accolades, Dyakiv was named to the All-CCC singles and doubles first team as well as the 2012 recipient of the Nancy Rossini Memorial Award for Outstanding Female Sophomore Athlete from Nichols Athletics.
 
The International Business and Sports Management major boasts a 3.88 GPA and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, Zeta Alpha Phi and Delta Mu Delta honor societies. In addition to being active in the Campus Activities Board and Sport Management Club, Dyakiv is a teaching assistant, front desk assistant at the Nichols Athletic Center and a student ambassador in admissions.
 
In February, Dyakiv, who is fluent in Ukrainian and conversational in Russian, utilized her skill set as a translator for the Belarus officials at the 2012 Fed Cup tie held at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. She has also volunteered at the Boston Marathon and performs community service at St. Nichols Ukrainian Church. Dyakiv is currently in Ukraine volunteering at the 2012 UEFA European Soccer Championship.
