Julie Monroe (Whitman, Mass.) booted a free kick over the head of the goalkeeper in the sixth minute to even the match 1-1 before host Eastern Nazarene netted a pair of goals in the second half to top the Bison 3-1 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer match on a damp Wednesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field.
The Lions (5-5-2, 3-0-1 CCC) jumped out to a quick 1-0 advantage as sophomore Gabby Humphreys (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) headed in a corner kick that was taken by classmate Maleesa Santos (Colonie, N.Y.) with just 3:30 off the clock. Exactly two minutes later Monroe scored the equalizer for the Bison (3-6-2, 0-4-0 CCC). Eastern Nazarene took 10 of the 11 shots and three of the four corner kicks in the frame.
Sophomore Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) took advantage of a free kick opportunity at 48:26 as the ball was wedged into left of the net to give the hosts a 2-1 lead. The Lions tacked on another marker in the 52nd minute as sophomore Tina Corey (Canterbury, Conn.) headed in a free kick taken by Santos. During the second half Eastern Nazarene outshot Nichols 9-2 and was awarded both corner kicks opportunities.

Melissa Toomey (Saugus, Mass.) turned away six shots for the Bison.
Nichols hosts Western New England on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. while Eastern Nazarene hosts Roger Williams at 12:30 p.m. also on Saturday.
