BERNARDSTON, Mass. - The Nichols College golf team placed fifth at the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Golf Championship on Sunday at Crumpin Fox Golf Club. The Bison posted a combined score of 658 (334-324).

Sophomore Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) finished at +16 to tie for ninth place. He opened the tournament by posting an 82 on Saturday before shaving four strokes off that total in Sunday's around for a total score of 160.

Junior Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) tied for 13th place as he finished the par 72 course at +18 (82-80-162).

Freshman Colin Whitney (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished at +20 (84-80-164), which left him tied for 15th.

Freshman Bobby Lucy (Fitchburg, Mass.) shot an 86 on both days to finish in a tie for 34th place at +28 (172). Senior captain Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) rounded out the Bison with a 53rd place finish at +40 (91-93-184).

RPI placed first with a team score of 630, followed by Husson with 645 and Western New England with 648.

The Bison cap the 2012 fall campaign next Sunday and Monday at the NEIGA Championship at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster.
