CRANSTON, R.I. – Sophomore
Kevin Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) shot three-over par Saturday afternoon to help the Nichols College golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Johnson & Wales University Invitational at Cranston Country Club. The Bison finished at +92 (660) on the par 71 course.
Wheeler – who finished the first day of competition in 14th place after shooting an 82 (+11) – posted a 74 on Saturday to finish in a tie for second place at +14 (156). Junior
Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.), meanwhile, finished where he began the day, which was in a tie for 10th place at +18 (160).
Senior
John Juterbock (Darien, Conn.) wrapped up at +29 (171) to place 28th while freshman
Bobby Lucy (Fitchburg, Mass.) tied for 29th after finishing +31 (173). Senior captain
Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) shot 93 on the afternoon to bring his two round total to 185 (+43) – good for 36th place.
Rhode Island College won the event at +53, followed by Johnson & Wales (+71), and UMass Dartmouth (+76).
The Bison compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship on Oct. 20-21 at Crumpin Fox Golf Club in Bernardston.
