DUDLEY, Mass. (July 25) – Members of the Nichols College men's and women's tennis teams have been recognized for academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, it was announced recently. The women's team saw five players earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status and four members of the men's team earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.
Only 15 individuals from the Commonwealth Coast Conference were recognized with ITA Scholar-Athlete status, five of whom came from the Nichols team, including
Chelsey Miller, who earned the honor for the third-straight year. Alexandra Cifone,
Catherine Jaworski and
Megan Woodruff were honored for the second consecutive season, and CCC Rookie and Player of the Year
Anna Dyakiv picked up her first recognition.
On the men's side, only 10 individuals from the CCC garnered Scholar-Athlete Status, four of whom came from Nichols College.
Eliot Wuhrmann,
Dan Saucier and
Steve Carella all earned the honor for the second straight year, while
David Drucker earned his first recognition.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
