SUTTON, Mass. (April 19) – The Nichols College golf team finished ninth out of 18 teams at the Blackstone National Invitational hosted by Worcester State University Tuesday afternoon. The Bison were led by senior
Jon-Paul Chouinard (Sutton, Mass.), who tied for 18th overall in the 86-player field.
Nichols combined for a 334 to finish two strokes back of eighth-place Westfield State. Just four strokes separated the sixth through ninth-place teams.
Chouinard posted a 40 on both the front and back nines of the par-72, 6,655-yard course.
Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) finished tied for 29th with an 83. After matching Chouinard on the front nine,
John Juterbock (Darien, Conn.) carded a 44 on the back to finish tied for 35th with an 84.
Joshua Paulhus (Natick, Mass.) had a tough back nine and tied for 53rd with an 87 after leading the team on the front with a 39.
Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) rounded out the scoring in 76th with a 94.
Salem State captured the team title with a composite 313, led by medalist Nick Zolotas, who shot a three-under 39.
This tournament concludes the spring season for the Bison.
