SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 14) – The Nichols College golf team finished third at the Western New England College Invitational Thursday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Golf Course. The Bison saw all five golfers finish in the top-20 on the individual leaderboard on the day.
WNEC fired a season low 307 to take honors at its own tournament. UMass Dartmouth sophomore Matt Connolly was the medalist with a 73, which included an eagle on the par 5, 474-yard (over water) third hole.
Salem State was a stroke behind to finish second (308) with Nichols (314), UMass Dartmouth (319), and Elms (321) rounding out the top five.
Joe Gallagher (Hopewell Jct., N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Bison, tying for seventh with a 77 (+5).
John Juterbock (Darien, Conn.) was one stroke back tied for 11th, while
Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) fired a 79 (+7) to tie for 16th. Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) and
Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) tied for 19th with rounds of 80.
Tufts came in sixth (323) followed by Massachusetts College (327), Babson (331), Springfield (331), Westfield State (335), Endicott (340), and Wesleyan (344).
