Box Score QUINCY, Mass. (Feb. 12) -- The Nichols College Bison helped their postseason cause by defeating the Eastern Nazarene Lady Lions Saturday afternoon in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference game, by a score of 74-53. Nichols evens out at 11-11 overall and improves to 5-6 in TCCC play. Eastern Nazarene drops to 3-20 overall and 1-10 in conference games.

The Bison took the first 6:42 of the opening half to run out to a 14-0 lead. Spurring the Bison in the first half was senior Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) who led all scorers with 12 points at half time. The Lady Lions remained energetic throughout the half, at one point able to cut the 14 point deficit to 4, 20-16.

Invigorating the ENC offense was freshman Jackie Cruz and sophomore Raven Coates who combined for 12 first half points and seven rebounds. Nichols was able to survive the Lady Lion surge and tacked onto their lead, exiting the first half with a lead of 41-23.

The Bison were able to maintain the momentum they attained at the end of the first half to extend a lead that proved to be too much for the Lady Lions. The Bison defense laid down the clamps on ENC by holding them to 27.9 percent shooting in the half, while Nichols shot at a clip of 44.8 percent.

Offensively the Bison had four players in double figures. Robidoux had a game high 19 points, senior Jessica Nelson (North Providence, R.I.) scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while both sophomore Kristina Lindgren (Sturbridge, Mass.) and junior Chelsea Shaughnessy (Halifax, Mass.) tacked on 11 points. Hitting the glass with nine rebounds was sophomore Hayley Zophin (Framingham, Mass.).

Cruz led all Lady Lions with 15 points and sophomore Shardae Brown accumulated a double-double by netting 13 points and corralling 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Fredlyn Cantave contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Nichols continues its road trip Wednesday in a 5:30 p.m. game at Regis, and concludes the regular season Saturday at University of New England.
