Sears Co-Medalist at 9th Annual Bison Invitational

Bison split squads finish fourth and fifth

WORCESTER, Mass. (Oct. 9) – Nichols College sophomore Brian Sears and Endicott College sophomore Nick Erlichman each carded a 74 (+2) to earn co-medalist honors of the 9th Annual Bison Invitational held Sunday at the par-72, 6,483-yard Green Hill Golf Course. Erlichman and the Gulls took top team honors, finishing eight strokes ahead of runner-up Tufts University.

Endicott led the seven-team field in par-4 and par-5 scoring, and collected 12 birdies en route to top honors with a 311 (+23). Tufts fared best in par-3 scoring, finishing with a 319. Three strokes separated third through fifth place, with Worcester State taking third at 327, and the Nichols split squads finishing fourth and fifth. Led by Sears, Nichols White carded a 328 to finish fourth and Nichols Black finished fifth at 329. Wentworth came in sixth with a 343, and Roger Williams placed seventh with a 361.

Erlichman had the best front nine score to go with a tourney-best four birdies, while Sears posted the best back-nine score to go with three birdies and 10 pars.

Tufts' Sebastian Vik tied for third with a 78 (+6) and was the only player even in par-3 scoring on the day. Chris Ellis led Worcester State with a ninth-place finish, carding an 80 (+8). Bryan Cohen led Wentworth by cutting one stroke off his front nine score to card an 81 (+9) and tie for 12th place. Peter Dunn paced Roger Williams in a tie for 18th with an 84.

Joining Sears on the Nichols White team was Matt Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.), who tied for third with a 78 (+2) and led the field in par-5 scoring at -2. John Juterbock finished with an 86 to tie for 22nd, while Greg Strootman was four strokes back in a tie for 29th. Jordon Kadlik wrapped up the scoring in a tie for 33rd with a 97 after a tough back nine.

Joe Gallagher was the top finisher on Nichols Black, also tying for third place with a 78 (+2). Zach Kohn was 15th with an 82, while Kevin Wheeler was two strokes back in a tie for 18th after rallying on the back nine. Nick Masciadrelli finished in 21st with an 85, and Tyler Sleeper rounded out the scoring in 28th with an 89.

Nichols will compete next on October 17-18 at the NEIGA Championships at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
