Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. (Jan. 11) – Endicott College senior guard Ashley Wright scored a game-high 28 points, including the 1,000th of her career, to lead the Gulls to a 68-54 The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Nichols Tuesday evening. Endicott improves to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in TCCC action after its third-straight win. Nichols falls to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Wright was eight-of-nine from beyond the arc to lead the Gulls to a 66.7% night from three-point range (10-15), and scored her milestone bucket by virtue of a trey at the 9:19 mark of the second half.
Endicott led, 10-5, just over four minutes into the game and held the lead until midway through the stanza when
Emily Yourie (Ellington, Conn.) followed a post-up bucket with a pair of free throws on the Bison's next possession to put Nichols on top, 14-12.
Turnovers plagued Nichols through the first half, as the Bison racked up 14 in the stanza, but the Gulls were only able to parlay that into six points. Meanwhile, Wright was on point from beyond the arc, sinking four of four attempts among 16 first-half points. As a team, Endicott shot 75% from three-point range in the frame, scoring three in a 12-3 run that capped the half giving the Gulls a 37-26 lead at the break.
Endicott doubled up the Bison through the opening half of the second frame, and built up its lead to as many as 20, taking advantage of 12 Bison turnovers to put up 18 points on the board.
The Bison were led by 14 points from senior guard
Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.). Senior forward
Jessica Nelson (North Providence, R.I.) added 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Wright was joined in double-digit scoring by Ashley Vitale, who scored 17 points to go with a game-high nine rebounds.
Nichols travels to New England College for a 1 p.m. TCCC game Saturday. Endicott hosts Western New England College Saturday at 1 p.m. in a TCCC game.
