DUDLEY, Mass. (Sept. 8) – Nichols College senior Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) fired a one-under 71 to lead the men's golf team to a first place finish in the Bison's first match of the season Wednesday at Dudley Hill Golf Course. Nichols shot a composite 305 to finish ahead of Anna Maria (330) and Mitchell (438) in the “B” match. The Bison continue action this weekend at the Trinity Invitational at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington, Conn.
Chouinard finished five strokes ahead of his nearest competitor and after finishing one-under on the front nine, finished out the back at even par. Other top finishers for the Bison included Joey Gallagher (Hopewell Jct., N.Y.) and rookie Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.), who finished the day with final scores of 77.
Anna Maria's Christopher Kusz rallied from a tough front nine to place second with a 76 (+4), while Drew Norris was the top finisher for Mitchell with a 78 (+6), also faring better on the back nine.
Nichols senior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.) opened the season with an 80, and senior Jake Hubley (Auburn, Mass.) rounded out the Bison squad with an 87 in his first match at Nichols.
