Golf Finishes 13th at Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (Sept. 19) – The Nichols College men's golf team placed tied for 13th at the 27th Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College Sunday afternoon. The Bison stood in 16th place after the first day of play and cut 12 strokes off their first day score to tie with Williams College with a composite 314. Nichols finished with a two-day total 640.

Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) led the Bison on the individual leaderboard with a 16th-place tie as he shot a six-over 77 on day two to finish with a 153. Senior Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) cut seven strokes off his first day score to post a 77 on the second day and finish tied for 64th with a two-day 161. Classmate Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) also fared better on Sunday, shooting a 79 to finish with a two-day 163 in a tie for 79th with senior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.), who cut one stroke off of Saturday's score with an 81 on day two. John Juterbock (Darien, Conn.) rounded out the squad with a two-day 175 with an 86 on the final day of play.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute won the team title with a two-day total of 606, seven strokes ahead of Saint  Anselm College (613). Manhattanville (615), Hamilton (616) and Skidmore (616) rounded out the top five schools. Host Middlebury finished the weekend in sixth place, with a two-day total of 619. Wesleyan's Peter Taylor earned medalist honors with a 76 and 70 for a 146.

Nichols is back in action Tuesday when the Bison host Anna Maria and Brandeis in a 'B' match at noon at Dudley Hill Golf Course.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (Sept. 18) – The Nichols College men's golf team stands in 16th place out of 25 teams after the first day of play at the Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College. Manhattanville and Saint Anselm College are tied for first place, each shooting a 305. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute follows in third with a 306. Action resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Ralph Myhre Country Club.

The Bison have combined for a 326, led by sophomore Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.), who stands tied for 11th on the individual leaderboard with a five-over par 76 (36-40). Senior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.) is tied for 77th with an 82 (38-44), and seniors Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) and Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) each fired an 84 to tie for 91st. John Juterbock (Darien, Conn.) rounded out the Nichols squad with an 89 (41-48).
