BERLIN, Conn. (Sept. 12) – The Nichols College golf team finished sixth at the Trinity Invitational, played at the Pine Valley Golf Course and Shuttle Meadow Country Club Saturday and Sunday. Nichols combined for a two-day 636 and was led by senior Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.), who tied for ninth place on the individual leaderboard with a two-day 153 (77-76).
First year Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) finished four strokes behind Paulhus in a tie for 16th place with a 153 (78-79). Senior Jon-Paul Choinard (Natick, Mass.) cut 10 strokes off his first day card to post the team's best score on the second day. He finished in a tie for 25th with a two-day 160 (85-75). First year Brett Fredrickson (Billerica, Mass.) placed 29th with a 166 (82-84), and classmate Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) rounded out the scoring in a tie for 34th with a 172 (86-86).
Babson won the team title with a two-day 599 and was followed by Manhattanville (608) and Amherst (611). Peter Taylor of Wesleyan University was the individual medalist with an even par 142.
Nichols returns to Dudley Hill Golf Course to host Elms and Wentworth on Wednesday, September 15th before traveling to Middlebury for the Duke Nelson Invitational September 18-19.
