NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. (April 11) – Nichols College senior Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.) fired an even par on the final day to take individual medalist honors at the Hampton Inn Classic, hosted by UMass Dartmouth at the Allendale Country Club. Pio stood one back after the first day and finished four strokes ahead of his nearest competitor in leading the Nichols team to a sixth-place tie.

Pio and Trinity's Josh Grossman were close after Saturday's round, but Pio fired the best round of the tournament on Sunday to hold for medal with a four-over, two-day 148 (76, 72). Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) finished tied in 15^th with a two-day 161 (80, 81), while Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) and Shawn Santos (Agawam, Mass.) stood tied in 55^th at 31-over 175. Both rebounded from tough opening rounds, as Deni cut 11 strokes off his Saturday score to post an 82 on Sunday. Bruce Carter, Jr. (Worcester, Mass.) rounded out the Bison squad with a two-day 195 (97, 98) in 88^th.

As a team, the Bison combined for a 338 on the first day before cutting 17 strokes off  their score for a 321 on the second day of play for a 659 final (+83). Elms College won the team title with a combined 626 (+50) with a tournament-low 308 on Sunday.

Nichols continues its spring season at the Western New England College Invitational hosted at Veteran's Golf Course in Springfield, Mass., on April 15^th.
