PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) fired a 76 (+4) to finish in third place individually and lead the Nichols College men's golf team to a third place finish at the Rhode Island College Fall Men's Golf Invitational played at Triggs Memorial Golf Course Friday.
Junior Nick Jagoe fired a match-best 74 (+2) to lead UMass Dartmouth to an eight-stroke win with a score of 312 (+24). Rhode Island College finished at 320 (+32) in second place on the Anchormen's home course. Nichols was 13 strokes off the pace to finish at 325 (+37) to round out the top three.
Anna Maria (326), Worcester State and Johnson & Wales (332), Suffolk (353), RIC's JV squad (355), Emmanuel (366) and Wentworth (371) comprised the 10-team field.
Senior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.) each shot a tied for fourth with a 77, while classmates Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) and Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) tied for 23rd with an 86. Matt Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) rounded out the scoring two strokes back in a tie for 29th.
Nichols is back in action Sunday in the eighth annual Bison Invitational and Worcester Collegiate Championship, a 12:30 p.m. home event at Green Hill Golf Course.
