STOW, Mass. (Oct. 3) – The Nichols College golf team finished third at the ECAC Division III New England Golf Championship Sunday. The Bison led the 11-team field after the first day of play at the par-72, 6,797 yard North Course of Stow Acres Country Club, but finished three strokes behind champion Elms College with a two-day 621.
Nichols placed three golfers in the top 10, and finished one stroke back from defending champion Endicott (620). Husson University finished in fourth place with a two-day 623.
Senior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.) led the Bison with a sixth-place tie, firing a two-day 153 (76, 77). Sophomore Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) finished in a tie for eighth place one stroke behind Cafasso with a 154 (74, 80). Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) tied for 10th with a 156 (78, 78). First year Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) cut four strokes off his first day score to finish tied for 16th with a 158 (81, 77), and Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) rounded out the team in 23rd with a 161 (81, 80).
Husson's Chris Hamel took individual medalist honors with a two-day 147 (+3).
Nichols, which finished second at the ECAC DIII New England Championship in 2007 and 2008, and placed fifth last season, is back in action on Wednesday, October 6th at Mitchell.

The Bison shot a composite 309 Saturday at the par-72, 7,000 yard North Course of Stow Acres Country Club. Sophomore Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) is second on the individual leaderboard with a 74 (+2).
The Bison are three strokes ahead of defending champion Endicott (312), four ahead of Husson (313) and five ahead of Elms (314).
Senior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.) stands tied for third with a 76 (+4), while classmate Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) is two strokes back tied for 10th place with a 78 (+6). Senior Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) and first year Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) are tied in 18th with an 81.
Nichols finished second at the ECAC DIII New England Championship in 2007 and 2008, and placed fifth last season. The Bison are set to conclude play with a 10:40 a.m. tee time Sunday.
