Golf Seventh at Bison Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. (Oct. 10) – Worcester State University combined for a team 308 to win the Eighth Annual Bison Invitational hosted by Nichols College at the par-72, 6,483-yard Green Hill Golf Course Sunday afternoon. The College of the Holy Cross was awarded the Worcester Collegiate Championship trophy with a 308 in the simultaneous event. Lancers' senior Bob Bruso and Crusaders' senior Tim McGovern were named co-medalists in both events with a one-over 73. Bruso becomes the first repeat medalist in the history of the event after winning the Bison Invitational in 2009.

Endicott was seven strokes off the lead in the Bison Invitational, finished with a 315. UMass Dartmouth finished in fourth with a 317, followed by Johnson & Wales with a 324 in fifth. Host Nichols finished seventh with a 327.

Holy Cross claimed the Worcester Collegiate Championship by virtue of a fifth scorecard tiebreak, winning by a one stroke margin. Nichols came in third in the area championship, followed by Anna Maria.

The Bison's Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) finished one-over on the back nine to finish tied for fifth with a 77 (+5), while first year Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) tied for 13th with a 79 (+7). Senior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.) shot an 85 to tie for 45th, while classmate Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) was one stroke back in a tie for 53rd. Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) rounded out the scoring in a tie for 55th place with an 87.

Nichols is back in action at Mitchell on October 13th before the NEIGA Championship October 16-17 at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
