PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Oct. 9) – The Nichols College golf team finished sixth out of 12 teams at the Rhode Island College Fall Invitational Friday afternoon. Senior Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.) fired a 77 and junior Dan Cafasso (Prospect, Conn.) shot a 78 to finish tied for sixth and 11th, respectively, on the par-72 Triggs Memorial Golf Course.
Bruce Carter, Jr. (Worcester, Mass.) finished tied for 25th with an 82, while Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) finished two strokes behind in a tie for 36th. Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) rounded out the squad with an 87 in a tie for 45th in the 60-player field.
Host Rhode Island College won the Invitational, the first in school history, with a composite 308. Johnson & Wales (311), Bentley (315), Bentley's B Team (316) and Providence College (320) rounded out the top five team finishers.
The individual medalist was Kyle Tibbetts of Providence College, who finished with a 73 (+1).
Nichols looks to defend its own Invitational title Sunday at the Seventh Annual Bison Invitational/Worcester City Tournament, held at Green Hill Golf Course. Tee time is set for noon for the 11-team field.
