BREWSTER, Mass. (Oct. 19) – The Nichols College golf team stands in a tie for 12th place after the first day of competition at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship held at The Captains Golf Course Monday. The Bison combined for a 313 on the par-72 course.
Senior Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.) stands in a tie for eighth place on the individual leaderboard with a one-over 73 (36-37), while Joshua Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) shot a 76 (39-37) to tie for 28th.
First year Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) fired an 81 (42-39) in his NEIGA debut round to tie for 85th, while Shawn Santos (Agawam, Mass.) posted an 83 (40-43) to tie for 107th and Bruce Carter, Jr. (Worcester, Mass.) finished a stroke behind in a tie for 118th (41-43).
Davis Mullany of Dartmouth College is on top of the individual leaderboard after the first round with a five-under 67 (34-33) to pace the Big Green to the team lead with a composite 291. Salem State College (304) leads the Division III field and is tied for fifth overall.
