Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College defeated Colby-Sawyer College, 2-0, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer action Saturday afternoon. Aaron Kelly (Dover Plains, N.Y.) and David Johnson (Canterbury, Conn.) led the way for the Bison, who, with an 8-8-1 overall record and a 5-6-1 conference mark, keep their tournament hopes alive with the win. Colby-Sawyer drops to 4-10-2 overall and 4-5-2 in TCCC action.
Kelly sailed past the Chargers defense to find a through-ball from first-year forward Brian Sanz (Framingham, Mass.) and one-timed it from the right flank to put the Bison ahead, 1-0, in the 34th minute.
Nichols held a 7-3 shot advantage in the first frame, but shots on net were even, as Bison first-year keeper Brendan Hamilton (No. Attleboro, Mass.) stopped the only shot he faced.
Kyle Brockaway (Lebanon, N.H.) shipped Johnson a long corner at the back post that Johnson clipped with a left-footed volley past Chargers netminder Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.) in the 47th minute for the 2-0 lead.
Hamilton followed with seven second-half saves to earn his second career shutout victory as the Chargers pummeled the Bison with 12 total shots in the frame. Feltes went untested in the second half, finishing with one save on the day.
Nichols travels to Anna Maria for a 3 p.m. TCCC game Tuesday, while Colby-Sawyer takes on Roger Williams in Rhode Island Sunday at 1 p.m.
