DUDLEY, Mass. (9/9/2026) - The Nichols College men's soccer team erupted for four first-half goals and held off a second-half push from Lasell University Wednesday afternoon, earning a 4-2 non-conference victory over the Lasers at Nichols Soccer Field.

Following their win, the Bison jump to 3-2 on the season, while the Lasers fall to 0-3.

The Bison wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Brandon Montefusco opened the scoring just a minute into the contest. Montefusco finished a feed off a deflected header from both Avery Morse and Aysaiah Chavez to give Nichols an early 1-0 advantage and himself a career-first goal.

Nichols continued to dictate the pace offensively, creating several opportunities in the opening 20 minutes before doubling its lead in the 21st minute. Nick Reilly found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, extending the Bison advantage to 2-0.

The Bison kept their foot on the gas as the first half progressed. In the 33rd minute, Ayden Gardner found the back of the net for his first goal of the campaign, pushing Nichols ahead by three. Nichols continued to pressure the Lasell defense in the closing minutes of the half, eventually adding one more before the break.
In the 44th minute, Shea Ullo capped the Bison's four-goal opening half with his first goal of the season. Evan Giannini was credited with the assist, sending Nichols into halftime with a commanding 4-0 advantage.

Lasell came out of the halftime break looking to cut into the deficit and did so just 21 seconds into the second half, as Owen O'Brien put the Lasers on the board. Nichols weathered the early pressure and continued to create chances of its own, but Lasell's attacking presence remained strong throughout the half.

The Lasers eventually pulled within two in the 73rd minute when Giovanni Rojas scored, setting up a tense final stretch. Nichols responded by tightening defensively and protecting its two-goal cushion over the final 17 minutes.

Madison Ferrao anchored the Bison in goal for the majority of the contest, making seven saves across 71:27 of action. Tommy Wickwire entered in the 72nd minute and added a save of his own as Nichols closed out the victory.

Despite Lasell holding a 24-20 edge in total shots, Nichols consistently tested the Lasers' goalkeeper, putting 14 shots on target compared to Lasell's 10. Gardner led the Bison with three shots on goal, while Nicolas Huppert also recorded three shots on frame. Reilly added two shots to go along with his goal, while Montefusco and Ullo each contributed a goal.

Nichols' four first-half goals came from four different players, highlighting a balanced offensive attack that allowed the Bison to establish control early and withstand Lasell's second-half comeback attempt.

The Bison return to action Saturday, September 12, traveling to Western New England University for a 2:30 PM matchup.
