Esports Completes Reverse Sweep of No. 9 Rochester in Rocket League Play

DUDLEY, Mass – The Nichols College esports team took down No. 9 Rochester in Rocket League during NACE Starleague action on Monday night. After dropping the first two games, the team stormed back to complete the reverse sweep, winning the series 3-2.
 
Nichols lost the first two games of the series by the scores of 0-3 and 2-3. In game three, Samuel "Kfrost" Calini found the back of the net, as his goal would be the difference with the Bison winning the game 1-0. Andrew "pyrros" Oricchio took over in game four, scoring all four goals, including the game-winner in overtime to even the series up at two games apiece.
 
Nichols struck first just five seconds into the deciding game five on a goal from Michael "Peloza" Peloza. The game remained 1-0 until Rochester evened the score up with 32 seconds remaining, forcing another overtime. After four minutes of tough defense in overtime, kfrost was able to break free, finding the back of the net to clinch the win and complete the series comeback.
 
pyyros and kfrost led the scoring for the Bison with five and three goals on 16 and 17 shots, respectively. pyyros was also the leading facilitator for Nichols, picking up three assists. The trio of pyrros, kfrost, and peloza combined to make 34 saves, with pyrros leading the way with 14.
 
Nichols returns to action on Thursday, March 2 when they take on Southwest Minnesota State in Overwatch play at 7:00 p.m. from the Flynn's Arcade Esports and Gaming Center.
