DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College Athletic Communications Director
Pete DiVito has announced the addition of
Liza Phillips to his staff as a graduate assistant.
Phillips had served as a work-study student in the Athletic Communications Office at Nichols since 2019, assisting with the compiling of statistics at home games and helping with all aspects of game management. Prior to her appointment as a GA at her alma mater, Phillips worked for the New York Mets as a Gameday Media Relations Intern (2018), where she assisted with the creation and distribution of pre-and post-game materials, distributed credentials, and helped manage all press conferences.
Phillips later spent time with the Worcester Bravehearts as a scoreboard and message operator (2019) and completed an internship at nearby WPI (2020) which was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Phillips serves as the official scorer for several Division I athletic programs at the College of the Holy Cross, including men's and women's ice hockey and basketball.
A four-year member of the Nichols College field hockey program (2017-21), Phillips appeared in 67 career matches (41 starts) on defense for the Bison. The Simsbury, Connecticut native has twice been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad and scored her first collegiate goal last spring against Gordon. Last fall, she was named to the Open Women's Field Hockey Team and will compete at the 21st Maccabiah this summer in Israel.
A team captain this past season, Phillips received her bachelor's degree in Sport Management this past May and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership. She also received the Richard Scheffler Sixth Man Award from the college at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year.
