DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College Strength & Conditioning Coach Bob Donahue has announced his resignation to accept a similar position at another Division III Institution.
In the last full season prior to the pandemic (2019-20), Donahue helped the Bison captured a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships (men's basketball & women's tennis), the football program won six games for just the second time since 2004, the men's soccer program advanced to the CCC Semifinals for the first time since 2015, and the men's ice hockey program rebounded from an 0-7-0 start to advance to the conference semifinals. The men's cross country program also recorded their highest finish at the conference championship in program history.
"Bob was instrumental in the success of all of our athletic programs during his time at Nichols," said Nichols College Director of Athletics
Eric Gobiel. "He worked 24/7/365 to make all of our student-athletes stronger and more agile, and the results were clear just days after he arrived 'On the Hill.' He was known as the 'Hype Man' for many of our programs and his presence will be missed in so many ways. We are forever grateful to Bob for the time and effort he gave Nichols College building our strength & conditioning program and wish him nothing but the best moving forward."
In Donahue's first season in Dudley, the Bison captured three CCC Championships: Men's Basketball, Men's Tennis, and Women's Tennis. Additionally, the men's track & field team won the CCC Invitational while the women's ice hockey program won a program-record 15 games.
Donahue earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Coastal Carolina University in 2016 before picking up his Master's Degree in Exercise Science in 2018. Merrimack. He cut his teeth at the collegiate level as a S&C intern at CCU, where he coached weightlifting form and technique while developing S&C programs for Chanticleers student-athletes.
