Erickson adds Donahue, Ford Jr. to his staff

DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College men's basketball head coach Brock Erickson has announced the additions of James Ford, Jr. and Kevin Donahue to his coaching staff.

Ford most recently served as an assistant coach with the men's basketball program at Albertus Magnus College (2016-18), helping the Falcons capture the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. During that span, Ford assisted the head coach in all coaching, administrative, fundraising, and public relations activities. Additionally, he helped the student-athletes adjust to the demands and challenges inherent to playing college basketball.

A 2016 graduate of Quinnipiac College with a B.A. in Criminal Justice, Ford was a four-year member of the Bobcats men's basketball team. The Hopewell, Virginia native appeared in 98 career games (47 starts) and averaged 4.8 ppg and 2.3 rpg while competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Ford – a team captain as a senior – poured in a career-high 18 points against both Rider and Monmouth as a junior.

Donahue comes to Nichols after serving as an assistant coach at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts (2019-20), where he was as an assistant coach on the varsity team while running the junior varsity program. He helped create practice plans for the varsity program while coordinating player development and film breakdown and analysis.

Prior to his arrival at Northfield, Donahue – a four-year member of the Assumption College men's basketball team (2009-12) – played professionally in both Spain (2017) and Germany (2017-19). He was the starting guard for CD Aquimisa Carbajosa and helped them capture the 2017 Federacion de Baloncesto de Castille y Leon (FBCYL) Primera regular season title and National Final Four Championship. Donahue was later the starting guard for Tus 59 HammStars of the Second Regional League Gruppe 2 Nordrhein-Westfalen Division.

Donahue received his B.A. in History from Assumption in 2012 and his Master's of Business Administration in 2015. He was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection and a 2011-12 Northeast-10 Second Team pick.

The Bison open the 2021-22 campaign on Friday, November 5 when they welcome Plymouth State to Dudley for a 7 p.m. contest at the Nichols Athletic Center.
