Emily Barden (Chatham, N.Y.) potted her first collegiate goal as the Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 8-4 to Holy Cross in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East action Friday evening at the Hart Recreation Center.
A season-high 9 different student-athletes earned points for the Bison despite the loss.
Senior Chelsea Monahan (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and freshman Kelsey Goostrey (Jackson, Mich.) each earned three points apiece while senior goaltender Alexandra Stevenson (Norwood, N.Y.) picked up her 10th win of the season in the win.
The Crusaders (15-6-3, 11-3-2 ECACE) got out to a 6-0 lead through the first 27 minutes when freshman
Laura Christie (Hudson, Mass.) executed on the power play for her second goal of the season. Junior
Erin Dice (Ashburn, Va.) and senior
Samantha Vicari (Wayne, N.J.) were credited with the assist on the play.
The Bison (7-17-0, 4-12-0 ECACE) produced a three-goal third period for the second time this season – 4-3 win over Southern Maine on February 7th – including goals from seniors
Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) and
Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) and Barden. Seniors
Talia Hohmann (Marina, Calif.) and
Lisa Coskren (Norwood, Mass.), sophomore
Samantha DiReda (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and freshman
Tori Wolter (Chandler, Ariz.) all had assists in the period.
Murphy paced the Bison with four shots while Hohmann and Coskren chipped in with three. Senior Mary Klimasewiski (Cochester, Conn.) had a game-high 10 shots to lead the Crusaders.
Senior
Tori Gianformaggio (Huntington Beach, Calif.) started the game and took the loss as she stopped 12 shots. Freshman
Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) made 15 saves while allowing five goals in playing the final two periods. Stevenson made 17 saves for the Crusaders.
The Bison travel to take on Plymouth State Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Crusaders host conference-leading Norwich Saturday at 2:05.
