Box Score 2 BOSTON, Mass. – The Nichols College softball team swept a pair of games from non-conference foe Fisher College Thursday afternoon at Breed Junior High School. The Bison won game one, 20-2, and game two, 15-0; both games were completed in five innings.
Junior
Avery Orszulak (Springfield, Mass.) went 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored in the opener. Freshman
Christina Barrows (Carver, Mass.) was 3-for-4 with three RBI and also scored three times while senior
Emalee Watkins (Malden, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with RBI and two runs scored and freshman
Christina Drake (Lebanon, N.H.) scored three runs.
In the circle, sophomore
Haley Fountain (Warren, Mass.) scattered three hits and allowed a pair of unearned runs in five innings. She walked one and struck out four to move to 3-5 on the season.
In the nightcap, four Bison – Drake, junior
Rachel Dalrymple (Belvidere, N.J.), and freshmen
Jade Palladino (Lynnfield, Mass.) and
Meghan Sears (Tewksbury, Mass.) – drove in two runs apiece. Sears surrendered four hits and fanned five in five shutout innings to even her record at 2-2.
The wins moved the Bison to 5-7 on the season, which equals their win total from all of 2013 just 13 games into the season.
The Bison open both the home portion of their schedule and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday against Salve Regina at noon. Fisher (5-16) hosts Pine Manor Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
