CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Nichols College softball team was defeated by The College of Wooster 8-0 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

The Fighting Scots (6-8) scored twice in the first, twice in the third, and four times in the fourth. They pounded out 16 hits.

Junior Avery Orszulak (Springfield, Mass.), sophomores Haley Fountain (Warren, Mass.) and Alexa Polverari (Branford, Conn.), and freshman Christina Barrows (Carver, Mass.) each recorded one hit for the Bison (3-5).

Freshman Meghan Sears (Tewksbury, Mass.) was tagged for eight hits and four runs in 2.2 innings of work in the loss.

Nichols concludes its southern tour with games against Rutgers-Newark (11 a.m.) and Wisconsin-Platteville (1 p.m.) tomorrow.
