FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Nichols College softball team suffered a pair of losses at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic Sunday morning, falling 6-0 to Pitt.-Bradford and 9-3 to UMass Dartmouth at the Lee Sports Complex.

Rebecca Waszczuk (Chester, N.H.) took the loss against the Panthers, allowing nine hits and six runs (four earned) over seven innings to fall to 0-1 on the season. Sophomore
Taylor Ferrazzi (Ashland, Mass.), meanwhile, moved to 0-3 after allowing eight hits and nine runs (two earned) in six innings of work against the Corsairs.
Sophomore Olivia Taylor (Shaker Heights, Ohio) drove in three runs for the Panthers while junior Sydney Mosby (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Freshman Emily Fair (Hinsdale, N.Y.) tossed four innings of one-hit ball to earn her first win of the season, and both she and classmate Jennifer Anthony (Irwin, Pa.) combined for 14 strikeouts (seven apiece).
The Corsairs were sparked by freshman Rachel Carey's (Holbrook, Mass.) two RBI while sophomore Samantha Gregorie (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored three runs.
Nichols (1-5) returns to action on Tuesday with games against Knox at 9 a.m. and Wis.-Superior at 11 a.m. Pitt.-Bradford completed their trip south with a Sunday afternoon contest against UNE while the Corsairs play Smith at 9 a.m. and Wis.-Superior at 11 a.m. on Monday.
