Matt Langadas has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, it was announced Tuesday. Langadas was impressive in his first three career starts, averaging over 15 points a game against some of the league's top teams.
Langadas opened the week with 16 points and five rebounds in a four-point loss at Roger Williams, and followed with 13 points, and a pair of rebounds and assists in a seven-point loss to the CCC's top team, Salve Regina. Finally, Langadas came alive with a career-high 17 points, four assists and three steals in a comeback win at Gordon. His biggest play came with four seconds left in the game when he dished the ball to
Craig Merrick for the game-winning three-pointer.
On the week, Langadas averaged 15.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He shot 57% from the field (17-of-30) and was a perfect 11-of-11 at the free-throw line.
Langadas has appeared in 13 games for the Bison, averaging 5.5 points in 16.7 minutes per game. He is firing 45.1% from the field and is a solid 25-of-34 at the charity stripe.
Nichols (6-10, 4-5) will look to avenge an early-season 10-point loss to Curry when the Bison travel to face the Colonels Wednesday night in an 8 p.m. conference game.
