Box Score NASHUA, N.H. (April 11) – The Nichols College women's lacrosse team snapped a seven-game skid with a 21-9 victory at Daniel Webster College Monday afternoon at Eagle Field.
Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) led the Bison (2-8) with five goals and two assists while
Toni Minelli (Newington, Conn.) notched four goals.
Melanie Chhouy (Pepperell, Mass.) added three goals and two assists, while
Shayna Ramalho (Monroe, Conn.) chipped in with two goals and two assists.
Sophomore Samantha Cotoni notched a team high four goals to pace the Eagles (0-5), while Samantha Bark added two strikes. Amy Prince, Catherine Ferraro and Brandi Ritz added single scores while Britz added a game high five ground balls.
Danielle Mott (Cranston, R.I.),
Dylan Paton (Bourne, Mass.) and
Jennifer Brigham (Bristol, R.I.) combined for 11 saves for Nichols. Rookie Christina McHugh made six stops for the Eagles.
Minelli put the Bison ahead just 18 seconds into the game off a Chhouy pass but DWC tied it on Cotoni's first 44 seconds later.
But Nichols would take control rattling off the game's next seven goals including three from Forand and two from Minelli before Cotoni's second of the game with 18:28 to go in the first made it 8-2.
Forand and
Samantha Maddern (West Haven, Conn.) answered for Nichols before Ritz followed with a free-position conversion for an 11-3 game and Ramalho added two as part of five unanswered for Nichols that gave the Bison a 15-3 lead at the break.
Cotoni would score twice and Ferraro and Bark added single goals and DWC scored four of the first six goals in the second half for a 17-7 game with 14 minutes to play but Nichols answered with four of the next five to pull away down the stretch.
Nichols hosts New England College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup at 7:00 p.m.
