(Mar. 14) – The Nichols College softball team earned a split at the Gene Cusic Classic Monday defeating Lasell in the first game of the day, 5-0, before falling to Washington College by a score of 4-1. The Bison continue action Tuesday with games against Stevens Institute of Technology (9 a.m.) and North Park University (11 a.m.) at the Lee County Complex in Fort Myers.

Allasyn Lieneck (Oldsmar, Fla.) went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base, while classmate
Rebecca Palmarozza (Hamden, Conn.) finished 3-for-4 with an RBI as the designated player. Nichols led, 2-0, after two and took advantage of three errors and cranked out three hits in the fifth to cap the scoring.

Chelsea Correia's (Seekonk, Mass.) solo home run in the fifth inning accounted for the Bison's lone run in the second game. Washington College put four runs on the board in the fourth on five hits and an error before Nichols got on board when

Kara Buckley (Nashua, N.H.) took the loss with four innings of work before giving way to
Lindsay Hassett (Oxford, Mass.), who fanned three while allowing one hit over the final two innings.
