Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 18) –The Nichols College softball team wrapped up its Florida trip with a pair of games Thursday, falling to Wisconsin-River Falls and Transylvania at the Rebel Spring Games. Savannah Thibault (Marlborough, Mass.) had a pair of RBI in the Bison's 6-2 loss to Wisconsin-River Falls, and then Nichols had four hits in the opening inning of a 7-2 loss to Transylvania.
Thibault drove in runs in the third and fourth innings against Wisconsin-River Falls, scoring Loren Rozanski (Plainville, Conn.) and Samantha Hardigan (Brockton, Mass.). Rozanski was 2-for-2 with a double, while Hardigan finished 2-for-3 on the day.
Kara Buckley (Nashua, N.H.) allowed six runs (four earned) on 10 hits in four innings before being relieved by Lindsay Hassett (Oxford, Mass.), who struck out one and didn't allow a hit in the final two innings.
In the second game, Nichols came out strong with four hits and a pair of runs in the opening inning, but was held without a hit for the remainder of the game. A bases-loaded single from Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) plated Thibault, the leadoff batter, and Amber Cottrell (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) drew a bases-loaded walk to send across the Bison's second run.
Transylvania, meanwhile, collected 11 hits and took advantage of four Nichols errors to score runs in four innings, including a two-out, two-run home run in the fourth.
Molly Ferraro (Millis, Mass.) allowed five runs (one earned) on eight hits while fanning one in the first four innings before giving way to Hassett, who gave up two earned runs on three hits and four walks.
Nichols (2-8) opens its home and conference schedule on Wednesday against Endicott at 3 p.m.
