DUDLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Lindsay Hassett (Oxford, Mass.) had two hits, a home run, and earned a win on the mound to help the Nichols College softball team sweep Anna Maria College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Bison came from behind to score two runs in the top of the seventh to capture game one by a score of 4-3 and then scored three runs in the first inning to take game two, 5-2. The sweep evens the Bison's overall record to 11-11 and improves them to 9-3 in the Conference. The AMCATS now fall to 4-17 on the year and 3-5 in TCCC action.

Sophomores Holly Renna and Nicole Hackenson both took losses for AMC on the mound, each giving up four earned runs in seven solid innings of work.

The AMCATS took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning of game one. AMC scored their first two runs on an error and a wild pitch before sophomore Dominique Marchand drove home Moroski with an RBI single to cap the inning.

The Bison cut the lead to one by scoring two runs on two hits in the fourth, including an RBI single up the middle by freshman Lauren Correia (Seekonk, Mass.).

The score stood at 3-2 until the top of the seventh when Lombardo delivered a dramatic two-run homer to put the Bison ahead for good, 4-3.

In game two, it was the Bison who struck for three runs in the first, getting a three-run homer from starting pitcher Lindsay Hassett.

After Nichols added a run in the fourth on an RBI double by sophomore Mary Kate Frodema (Springfield, Mass.), the AMCATS battle back to cut the lead in half on a two-run blast by Moroski.

The Bison added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a pinch-hit RBI single by sophomore Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) scoring freshman Savannah Thibault (Marlboro, Mass.).

Hassett went on to close out the game with a scoreless seventh, as the Bison held on for the 5-2 win.
