#10 Manhattanville Tops Women's Hockey, 4-0

RYE, N.Y. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell, 4-0, to 10th-ranked Manhattanville Saturday afternoon in an ECAC Women's East game at the Playland Ice Casino. Sophomore netminder Christine Rigosi (Ridgewood, N.Y.) made a career-high 62 saves in the loss.

The Valiants (14-2-0, 12-2-0 ECACE) got on the board at the 12:28 mark of the first as Alex Blackwell recorded her 14th tally of the season on the power play.

Rigosi and the Bison kept Manhattanville at bay for the remainder of the frame, with the sophomore stopping 21 shots in the frame.

The Valiants kept the pressure on in the second with 24 shots, but Rigosi stood tall, allowing one goal to Sarah Fullerton at the 15:29 mark.

Manhattanville added a pair in the third, first at 2:08 on the power play from Natalie Zitek before Michele Kaufman capped the scoring at 5:59 with assists from Jen Ascenci and Michelle Wieczor.

The Valiants held a 66-8 lead in shots and finished the night 2-for-7 with the man advantage while holding the Bison scoreless in five attempts.

The Bison return home for four-straight games, starting with a 6 p.m. ECAC East game against Saint Anselm Friday, January 30.
