Box Score SALEM, Mass. – The Williams College men's basketball team held on to a large first-half lead to defeat Nichols College, 108-78, in the opening round of the Salem State Christmas Tournament Monday afternoon. The Bison, who were led by 16 points from junior guard Chris Paquin (Barre, Mass.) fall to 4-6 on the season and will face Denison University (2-7) in the consolation game Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Nichols sophomore forward Chris Smith (Moosup, Conn.) added 10 points, while junior forward Ryan Wilcox (West Granby, Conn.) chipped in six points and a team-high six rebounds.
The Ephs (7-2) took a 10-point lead within the first five minutes of the game, and led by 30 at the half thanks to 56.1% shooting from the field in the frame.
Williams led by 42 with just over four minutes remaining in the game before the Bison chipped away with an 18-2 run to close out the game.
