Nelson was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for her role in two big wins for the Bison last week. Nichols defeated first place Colby-Sawyer for the first time in 20 years on Saturday and knocked off Salve Regina earlier in the week. In her first start of the year, Nelson scored 15 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds against the Chargers. She collected five points and seven boards in just 16 minutes against the Seahawks as well.

The last time Nichols beat Colby-Sawyer was in their first-ever meeting back in 1988. Nelson was assigned the duty of defending reigning TCCC Player of the Year Noelle Surette and held her to just four points on Saturday. The Chargers were 4-0 in conference action heading into the game while Salve Regina had also been undefeated in TCCC play until facing the Bison on Wednesday.
