NASHUA, N.H. (9/24/2026) - The Nichols College women's soccer team battled Rivier University on Thursday evening but ultimately fell to the Raiders, 7-1, at Joanne Merrill Field.

With the result, the Bison move to 1-6-1 on the season, while Rivier improves to 5-1-1.

Nichols came out looking to create opportunities early, with Serephine Jodoin putting the first shot on target just over three minutes into the contest. Juliana Brimecombe also registered a shot in the opening 15 minutes as the Bison looked to establish an offensive rhythm.

Rivier opened the scoring in the 15th minute and added two more goals before the midway point of the first half. Nichols continued to battle and create opportunities despite the deficit, with Jodoin forcing another save from the Rivier goalkeeper in the 69th minute of the second half.

One of Nichols' best chances of the opening half came in the 43rd minute when Avery Turner struck the crossbar, narrowly missing an opportunity to put the Bison on the scoreboard. Rivier added another goal shortly afterward to take a 4-0 advantage into halftime.

Nichols continued to compete in the second half and generated several offensive opportunities. The Bison earned back-to-back corner kicks in the 70th minute before Jodoin tested Rivier goalkeeper Olivia Rosario once again.

Juliana Brimecombe added another shot on target in the 76th minute, forcing Rosario to make another save. Cassie Rice also registered a shot later in the half as Nichols continued to look for a breakthrough.

That breakthrough finally came in the closing minutes.

With the clock winding down, Alyssa Senecal found the back of the net at 89:01 to put Nichols on the board. The goal marked Senecal's first of the season and provided a strong finish for the Bison after continuing to battle throughout the 90 minutes.

Nichols finished the evening with eight shots, including four on goal, while also earning five corner kicks. Jodoin led the Bison with three shots and two shots on goal, while Brimecombe added two shots, including one on target. Senecal recorded one shot and converted it for the lone Nichols goal.

Elizabeth Johnson played all 90 minutes in goal for Nichols and recorded four saves. The Bison defense also helped limit Rivier's opportunities during stretches of the contest, while Nichols continued to create chances of its own despite the scoreboard.

Nichols' goal continued an encouraging stretch offensively for the Bison, who entered Thursday's contest coming off a 2-0 victory over Dean College on September 21. In that contest, the Bison recorded 26 shots and scored twice in the opening half.

The Bison return to action against the University of New England for a conference match up this Saturday, September 26th at the Nichols Soccer Field. Game start is set for noon.
