HENNIKER, N.H. (9/28/2026) - The Nichols College women's soccer team generated 21 shots and put 11 on target, but New England College's first-half goal proved to be the difference as the Bison fell to the Pilgrims, 1-0, Monday evening at Don Melander Field.

Nichols came out aggressively, with Rylyn McInnis forcing an early save just 12 seconds into the match. Haley Bethin nearly put the Bison ahead in the fourth minute, but her attempt struck the post.

New England College broke through in the 10th minute when Julianna Barrett scored to give the Pilgrims a 1-0 lead.

The Bison continued to generate chances before halftime, with freshman Juliana Brimecombe recording three shots on goal during the final seven minutes of the opening half. New England College goalkeeper Estrella Michaelidis turned aside each attempt, while Jillian Caruso also tested the Pilgrim keeper before the break.

Nichols continued to apply pressure after halftime. Summer Bruno, Madison Dembowski, Alyssa Senecal, and Jordan Hendricks each generated scoring opportunities, while Gianna Masciadrelli forced a save in the 72nd minute.

The Bison continued their push during the final 15 minutes, with Dembowski recording a shot on target and Brimecombe forcing three more saves between the 84th and 89th minutes. Despite the late pressure, Nichols could not find the equalizer.

Nichols finished with a 21-10 advantage in shots and held an 11-6 edge in shots on goal. The Bison also earned six corner kicks compared to three for the Pilgrims.

Brimecombe led Nichols with six shots and five shots on goal, while Dembowski and Senecal each recorded two shots. In goal, Emily Dougenik made five saves over 90 minutes.

New England College goalkeeper Michaelidis made 11 saves to preserve the shutout.

Nichols returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 1, against Worcester State University at Vendetti Field.
