Nichols College Athletics

DUDLEY, Mass. (9/21/2026) - The Nichols College women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to UMass Dartmouth on Monday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

The Bison fall to 1-2-1 on the season, while the Corsairs improve to 6-1.

Nichols opened the afternoon by taking two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi and Erin Helly cruised to a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles over Alyson Tobias and Ava Aguiar, while Gianna Musumeci and Delaney Giesen secured a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles against Tamia McQueen and Gianna Doiron.

Julia Beaulieu and Kaitlyn Tingle battled at No. 3 doubles, ultimately falling to Sofia Beltran and Chloe Baker, 7-6, as Nichols carried a 1-0 advantage into singles play.

Gonzalez Vallardi continued her strong start to the season at No. 1 singles, earning a straight-set victory over Tobias, 6-2, 6-0, to put the Bison two points away from the team victory.

UMass Dartmouth responded at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, with Ava Aguiar defeating Giesen, 6-4, 6-3, before Tamia McQueen earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tingle to give the Corsairs a 2-1 lead in the singles portion.

Musumeci then provided Nichols with another point at No. 2 singles, rallying past Doiron, 1-6, 6-0, 6-0, to even the match at 2-2.

The Corsairs regained the lead at No. 5 singles as Beltran defeated Beaulieu, 6-0, 6-1, leaving the match at 3-2 and putting the team result on the final court.

At No. 6 singles, Sarah Maher battled Chloe Baker in a three-set thriller. Baker took the opening set, 6-3, before Maher responded with a 6-1 second-set victory to force a decisive third set. Maher and Baker went back and forth in the final set before Baker ultimately prevailed, 7-5, clinching the 4-3 victory for UMass Dartmouth.

Nichols returns to action for a Conference of New England match up against the University of Saint Joseph on Monday, September 21st. Game start is set for 4:00 PM on the Robinson Tennis Courts.
