Nichols College Athletics

DUDLEY, Mass. (9/23/2026) - The Nichols College women's tennis team earned its second consecutive Conference of New England (CNE) victory on Wednesday afternoon, cruising to a 6-1 win over the University of Saint Joseph at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

The Bison improve to 2-2-1 overall and 2-0 in CNE play, while the Blue Jays fall to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

Nichols opened the afternoon by taking two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles play. Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi and Erin Helly earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles over Jillian Milo and Nina Gardella, while Gianna Musumeci and Delaney Giesen battled to a 7-5 triumph at No. 2 doubles against Kate Landry and Anna Beauchene. Sarah Maher and Julia Beaulieu fell at No. 3 doubles to Aubrey Nosal and Daynah Echevarria, 6-1.

Gonzalez Vallardi continued her strong start to the season at No. 1 singles, blanking Milo, 6-0, 6-0, to put Nichols within two points of securing the team victory.

Cassie Rice followed with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Gardella, 6-2, 6-3, to give the Bison a 3-0 advantage.

Saint Joseph answered at No. 6 singles as Nosal defeated Maher, 6-1, 6-0, but Nichols quickly responded on the remaining courts.

At No. 4 singles, Musumeci earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Echevarria to move the Bison within one point of clinching the match.

Nichols then secured the team victory at No. 5 singles, where Giesen battled past Landry in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6). Giesen's victory gave the Bison their fifth point of the afternoon.

Helly capped the Nichols victory at No. 3 singles, rallying past Beauchene in another three-set battle, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8), to complete the 6-1 final.

With the victory, Nichols improves to 2-0 in CNE play and continues its conference schedule.

Nichols returns to action on Saturday, September 26th, when the Bison travel to face Western New England University. First serve is scheduled for noon.
