Baseball Rallies Past Raiders, 13-9

DUDLEY, Mass. (4/8/2026) – The Nichols College baseball team outlasted Rivier University in a high-scoring battle on Wednesday afternoon at the Baseball Field, earning the 13-9 win over the Raiders. Nichols' offense proved too much, as the Bison secured the midweek victory with freshman pitcher Jordan Medeiros earning his first collegiate win in the game.

With the win, Nichols improves to 12-9 (5-2 CNE) on the season and extends their win streak to four games in a row, while Rivier drops to 8-11.

Nichols wasted no time getting the offense going, scoring two runs in the second inning on RBI hits from Ben White and Jack Raymond. After Julian Galvan and Charles MacElhiney got on base through singles, the Bison added three more in the third off a three-run home run from Adam Pivacek to take a 5-1 lead.

After the Bison went up 7-2 through five innings, the Raiders erupted for seven runs in the sixth to take a 9-7 lead, capitalizing on a string of hits and defensive miscues. The Bison responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. A passed ball and wild pitch allowed two runs to score and tie the game, before MacElhiney delivered an RBI single to put Nichols back in front, 10-9.

Nichols added insurance in the eighth inning, scoring three more runs. Galvan drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, MacElhiney followed with an RBI double, and later came around to score on a balk to extend the lead to four. After coming in in the top of the sixth inning, freshman Jordan Medeiros closed the door on the Raiders, allowing only one unearned run after coming in the game with the bases loaded and zero outs. Medeiros earned the win in relief, as the Bison earned the 13-9 win.

The Bison offense was dominant throughout, racking up 19 hits. Pivacek led the way with three hits, three runs scored, and three RBIs, including his home run. MacElhiney added three hits and two RBIs, while Kyle Birks and White each recorded multi-hit performances.

The Bison return to conference action on Saturday, when they travel to Beverly, Massachusetts to square off against Endicott College in a doubleheader. Game one starts at 12 PM.
