Baseball Extends Win Streak to 5 With Win Over Curry, 9-1

MILTON, Mass. (4/28/2026) – The Nichols College baseball team erupted for a late offensive surge to defeat Curry College 9-1 away from home on Tuesday afternoon at Jack Vallely Diamond. The Bison bats caught fire in the seventh inning, recording seven runs on seven hits to storm ahead of the Colonels and secure the Conference of New England win.

With the win, Nichols improves to 20-16 (9-7 CNE) on the season, while Curry falls to 6-26 (4-12 CNE).

After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, Nichols settled in and controlled the game the rest of the way behind dominant pitching from Abe Anderson, Mitch Brown, and Andrew Rocca.

The Bison broke through in the sixth inning to take the lead when Jack Raymond sparked the rally with a walk and a steal, eventually scoring on an RBI double from Ryan Keating to tie the game. That double from Keating marked his 18th double of the season, breaking the record for most doubles in a single season, which was previously set by Nathaniel Cormier in 2022. Moments after the double, Brady Wendell delivered a pinch-hit RBI single to give Nichols a 2-1 advantage.

Nichols blew the game open in the seventh inning with a seven-run explosion. Julian Galvan started the scoring with an RBI single before Anthony Hackert ripped a two-run single to extend the lead. Collin Harty followed with an RBI knock, and Wendell added another run with a sacrifice. The Bison capitalized on a Curry error and capped the inning with an RBI double from Charles MacElhiney to make it 9-1. Sophomore Andrew Rocca came in to close out the game for the Bison, finishing the final 2.2 innings with no runs allowed to make the final score 9-1.

On the mound, Brown was outstanding in relief, earning the win after tossing 4.1 scoreless innings while striking out seven and allowing just two hits. He took over after Anderson allowed one run over the first two innings. Rocca closed the door with 2.2 shutout innings, striking out four to complete the dominant effort.

Offensively, Nichols totaled 12 hits, led by Keating's 3-for-5 performance with an RBI and two runs scored. Raymond added two hits, two runs, and two stolen bases, while MacElhiney chipped in two hits and an RBI. Hackert drove in two runs, and Wendell provided a spark off the bench with two RBIs.

The Bison return home tomorrow for their final non-conference game of the season against Wesleyan College. First pitch is set for 3:30 PM.
