DUDLEY, Mass. (April 25, 2026) – The Nichols College baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep of Suffolk University on Saturday, earning a 6-3 win in game one before powering past the Rams 10-3 in game two at the Nichols Baseball Field. Clark Churchill, where he hit the 100 strikeout milestone. Senior
Aidan Whitten earned the win in game two with a strong 6 innings performance, while junior
Adam Pivacek went 3 for 4 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs, including a 2 run bomb.
With the pair of victories, Nichols improves to 18-16 (7-6 CNE) on the season, while Suffolk drops to 7-25 (4-11 CNE).
Game One: Nichols 6, Suffolk 3
After falling behind 1-0 in the second inning, the Bison broke through in the fourth.
Kyle Birks delivered a two-run double down the left field line to give Nichols its first lead, and
Jack Raymond followed with an RBI single to cap a three-run frame and make it 3-1.
Suffolk trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth, but Nichols created separation in the seventh inning.
Ryan Keating sparked the rally with an RBI single before
Adam Pivacek came off the bench and roped a two-run double to extend the lead to 6-2.
The Rams added a run in the ninth, but Nichols starter
Clark Churchill shut the door, finishing off a complete-game performance. The right-hander allowed just four hits and three runs (one earned) while striking out seven to earn his fourth win of the season and hit over 100 strikeouts in his collegiate career.
Offensively, Nichols totaled nine hits, with
Collin Harty leading the way with a pair of hits. Birks drove in two runs, while Pivacek added a pair of RBIs in a key pinch-hit appearance. Raymond and Keating each contributed an RBI as part of a balanced attack.
The Bison recorded nine stolen bases, which is tied for the fourth most in program history. Keating, Hackert, and Raymond all recorded two stolen bases in the game.
Game Two: Nichols 10, Suffolk 3
The Bison offense came alive late in game two, breaking open a tight game with a seven-run sixth inning. Trailing 1-0 entering the fifth, Nichols took the lead on a two-run home run by Pivacek to make it 2-1.
The sixth inning rally began with
Jack Raymond,
Anthony Hackert, and
Ryan Keating all reaching on base to load the bases with no outs. After a fielder's choice resulted in an out at the plate,
Tyler Ladouceur came through with a clutch two-run single to give Nichols a 4-1 lead.
Adam Pivacek kept the momentum rolling with an RBI double down the left field line, and Charles Macelhiney followed with a two-run single up the middle to extend the advantage to 7-1.
Kyle Birks added to the outburst with an RBI double, and later in the inning, Raymond lifted a sacrifice fly to cap the seven-run frame, giving Nichols a commanding 9-1 lead.
Nichols added another run in the seventh and cruised the rest of the way to secure the sweep.
Pivacek led the offense in game two, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and three RBIs. Ladouceur drove in two runs, while MacElhiney added a pair of RBIs in the decisive inning.
On the mound,
Aidan Whitten earned the win with six strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out five. The bullpen combination of
Mitch Brown, senior
Casey Sexton, and
Jordan Medeiros closed out the victory.
Nichols will look to carry the momentum forward as they face the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) tomorrow, April 25th for a noon start.
