WORCESTER, Mass. (April 23, 2026) – The Nichols College baseball team outpaced Clark University in a high-scoring affair, earning a 16-12 victory Wednesday afternoon at Granger Field. The Bison scored early and often, bringing back the non-conference win from Worcester, Massachusetts.
With the win, Nichols improves back to .500 at 16-16 (6-7 CNE) on the season, while Clark falls to 19-13.
The Bison came out swinging early, plating three runs in the first inning.
Andrew Rocca highlighted the frame with an RBI double, while
Collin Harty added a sacrifice fly and
Julian Galvan chipped in an RBI single to give Nichols a 3-0 lead. Nichols broke the game open again in the third inning with a four-run outburst. Harty launched a two-run home run, and
Jack Raymond followed later in the inning with a two-run single to extend the advantage to 7-0.
After adding another run in the fourth, the Bison continued to build their lead in the fifth, as Raymond delivered an RBI double and
Anthony Hackert followed with an RBI single to make it 10-3. The biggest blow came in the sixth inning when junior
Adam Pivacek crushed a grand slam to center field, pushing the Nichols lead to 14-5.
Clark refused to go away, responding with runs in the middle innings and erupting for five runs in the seventh to cut the deficit to 15-12. Nichols added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single from Raymond, and junior
Mitch Brown slammed the door out of the bullpen, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts to earn the save.
Abe Anderson picked up the win in relief.
Nichols' offense racked up 19 hits on the day, led by a huge performance from Raymond, who went 4-for-6 with four RBIs. Pivacek drove in four runs on his grand slam, while Hackert and
Michael Ucci each recorded three hits. Harty added three RBIs, including his home run, in a balanced offensive attack.
Nichols will look to carry the offensive momentum into the weekend when they host Suffolk University for a Conference of New England doubleheader. The doubleheader will mark the program's senior day, and the ceremony will start at 11 AM, 30 minutes before the first pitch of game one, which is set for 11:30 AM.
