Nichols Drop Both Games to No. 22 Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, VA. (3/6/2026) – Baseball made their second stop on the spring break road trip in Winchester, Viriginia to face off against No. 22 Shenandoah University in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 8th. The Hornets took the opener 7-1 before completing the sweep with a 10-4 victory in game two.

With the results, Nichols moves to 1-3 on the season while Shenandoah improves to 14-1.

Game 1: Nichols 1 Shenandoah 7
In game one, Shenandoah scored a run in each of the first three innings to build an early lead. The Hornets scored a run in the first on an RBI single from Jaime Padilla before adding another in the second on an RBI single by Kyle Garrett. Shenandoah extended the lead to 3-0 in the third when Adham Sahebzadah delivered an RBI single.

Nichols broke through in the fourth inning. Julian Galvan reached with a single and later scored when Nicholas Prince doubled to right-center, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Despite the rally, the Bison were unable to generate further offense against Shenandoah starter Michael Meyers, who struck out seven over six innings.

The Hornets added insurance down the stretch, scoring once in the fifth and sixth before swiping home twice in the seventh inning to pull away for the 7-1 final. Aidan Whitten took the loss for Nichols after allowing five runs (four earned) across 5.2 innings.

Game 2: Nichols 4 Shenandoah 10
Game two saw Nichols jump out early with a three-run third inning. Ryan Keating sparked the rally with a double before Anthony Hackert drove him in with an RBI single. Liam Flynn followed with a base hit, and Adam Pivacek cleared the bases with a two-run double to give the Bison a 3-0 lead.

Shenandoah answered quickly, beginning with a solo home run from Tyler Smith in the fourth inning. The Hornets then erupted for five runs in the fifth, capitalizing on walks and timely hits to take a 6-3 lead.

The Hornets continued to build their lead with two more runs in the sixth and another in the seventh, highlighted by a solo home run from J.P. Williams. Nichols added its final run in the eighth inning when Collin Harty doubled down the left-field line to drive in Adam Pivacek from first base.

Keating and Flynn each recorded two hits, while Pivacek batted in two runs as Nichols finished with eight hits in the contest.

Nichols returns to action tomorrow, March 9th, to face No. 4 University of Lynchburg at the James C. Fox Field. First pitch is at 2 PM.
