Men’s Tennis Draws With Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) in Spring Break Clash

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (3/10/2026) - The Nichols College men's tennis team traveled to the Oak Street Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida on Tuesday to face Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University on their spring break trip. The Bison competed in a tightly contested match up that concluded unfinished, with the final score at 3-2 in favor of ONU but a tie by Coaches' decision.

Nichols moves to 1-3-1 on the season following the result, while ONU improves to 0-3-1.

The match began with singles play, differing from the typical format. Nichols found success in the middle of the lineup, securing two victories in singles competition. At the No. 4 position, Rodolfo Hernandez earned the Bison's first point with a 6-1, 6-3 win. Alexander Snitko followed with a hard-fought victory at No. 5 singles, taking the opening set 6-3, dropping the second 4-6, before clinching the match in a 10-4 tiebreak. Several other matches featured competitive battles for Nichols. At the No. 1 spot, William Albrikes captured the first set 7-5 before the match went unfinished during the second set. At No. 3 singles, Felipe Gonzalez forced a tiebreak after splitting the first two sets 6-7, 7-6, but fell 10-7 in the final breaker. Ezra Raphael and Mason Harris also represented the Bison at No. 2 and No. 6 singles but dropped their matches in straight sets.

Nichols moved into doubles play looking to close the gap, but the session concluded before all matches were completed. The No. 2 duo of Hernandez and Snitko fell 6-3, while the No. 1 pairing of Albrikes and Raphael and the No. 3 team of Gonzalez and Harris had their matches left unfinished as the overall contest was called.
