POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (2/28/2026) - The Nichols College men's tennis team traveled to Vassar College to compete in their first installment of spring competition in a non-conference bout with the Brewers. Concluding their matches at Walker Field House, the Bison were ultimately dealt a loss by Vassar, 0-7.

Following the match-up, Nichols is 1-3 on the season, seeing their conference record left unaffected. Vassar improves with their win to a 2-0 start, also having no change in their respective conference record.

Doubles play saw freshman pairings in both the No. 1 and No. 2 courts with Jodha Singh and Ezra Raphael up first, followed by William Albrikes and Nikolas Bertrams. Rounding out doubles play at the No. 3 was duo Felipe Gonzalez and Mason Harris. The Bison struggled in doubles competition on the day, seeing all three courts drop to the Brewers.

Down 0-1, the Bison shifted their focus to the singles play, battling to win their courts and mount a lead. The most noticeable performances at Vassar for singles action came from Singh and Albrikes. On court No. 1, Albrikes came close to pushing a third set after dropping the first 6-1 but ultimately lost 6-3 in the second. Singh similarly saw a better second set, but was unable to close the gap finishing out the second set, 6-4.

The Nichols College men's tennis team will return to action on neutral ground, with their upcoming match-up set for their Spring Break Trip in Orlando, Florida. Men's tennis will compete against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) at the USTA National Campus on Tuesday, March 10th. Time for start still TBA.
